Internet Safety… From a Teens View

I was allowed on the internet since I was about 10(I was supervised by my older brother or my mom, and only went on pbskids.com). I got my own laptop at 13. Now I use Facebook, I twitter and I write two blogs. Through all of my internet experience, I never came across actual porn images. I am very grateful. The reason I am writing this article, is because I’ve heard so many stories about very young children being exposed to lots of internet junk. I’ve heard stories of young boys being addicted to porn in the early teens. I have heard some of the most horrific stories about young girls getting into trouble online. I have seen parents, that won’t even allow the internet in there home.

Parents tend to either go all the way one way, or all the way the other way. Unlimited, or prohibited. (continue reading…)

Applesauce “Brulee”

Yesterday was applesauce day. I knew we had apples that were going soft, and the soft ones do much better in applesauce then for fresh eating.

There are two different ways of making applesauce. Some people like brown, some people like it pink. To aqquire a pink color in your applesauce you simply leave one, or a few apples un-peeled (providing they are apples with some red color on them). If you like you can strain the skins out when you’re finished cooking, but my family actually likes the taste of the skins.

Exclusive Interview With the Author of The Ranger’s Apprentice Series

I got the chance to interview one of my favorite authors: John Flanagan, who wrote the series “Ranger’s Apprentice”. The series follows the story of an orphan boy (Will) who is enlisted in the mysterious force of “The Ranger’s”, the secret protectors of the kingdom. (continue reading…)

Audrey Assad: This House You’re Building

This is the first full album I’ve ever bought on iTunes! Audrey truly has a wonderful voice and her songs are fun and catchy. Her voice and style is very similar to to that of Colbie Caillat. Audrey’s songs are uplifting, and inspiring. Her brand new album is available to purchase at Amazon and iTunes. I would highly recommend buying it on Amazon, because with the purchase of the album, you are rewarded with $4.00′s worth of video on demand.

Karate Kid 2010 Review

This 2010 remake of the Karate kid was surprising. Although it was different from the original, I found it enjoyable and more family friendly then the first. At first I was worried that Jaden Smith would act like an idiot and ruin the whole, but he actually did a pretty good job. I think the reason why its technically not “better” then the older one, is because the story was very ripped off, and had a lot of holes in it. The romance was way less believable and obnoxious, and some of the Kung Fu was played in rather long segments of slow motion.

On the good side though, it was a lot more family friendly then the original, it had its little laughs, and there were messages of respect, compassion and other good values thrown in. Go for the fun of it. It’s plot is a little holey, but its still a pretty fun movie. Parents Guide below. (continue reading…)

Tangled Trailer: Disney gives “Rapunzel” a New Twist

“Tangled” is Disney’s take on the favorite fairy tale “Rapunzel”. A story of a girl that has been locked up in a tower for years, but has yards and yards of beautiful hair. Although Disney has made several changes to the story (Rapunzel falls in love with an Outlaw, rather then a Prince) I think it could be a fun twist. The music makes it look kind of goofy, but the animation is really fun, and Rapunzel is beautiful. Watch it below: (continue reading…)

Movie Rental of the Week: The Secrets of Jonathan Sperry

This movie surprised me. It was actually pretty cute, and very inspiring. Although the ending brought some tears, it wrapped us pretty nicely, and I can still call it an enjoyable family movie. It was not only well filmed, it was squeaky clean. It’s hard to get both of those now a days.
